Brain Literacy is a critical feature of contemporary professional development for educators − but some may worry that diving into brain anatomy and the science of learning will be boring or difficult to access or apply in the classroom. The Brain Path provides a highly visual, easy to understand and immediately usable introduction to the science of learning. Through its unique wall-to-wall display of the biological process of learning, the Brain Path is designed to provide professionals an opportunity to experience how the brain works, visualize the brain’s critical memory-making processes and understand the 6 Scientific Learning Principles Every Teacher Should Know.
The Brain Path is a 3-D walk through the brain that uses gigantic visual displays to illustrate how the brain learns and identifies the key brain organs and primary processes involved in learning. Participants step through the critical prerequisite conditions for learning and encounter the core components involved in how the brain creates and stores memories. At each stage of the 4-section Brain Path, participants are guided through a reflection on how the teaching occurring in her/his context coincides with the learning processes in the brain. Participants complete the experience by creating a plan for improving the brain compatibility of her/his instruction. This experience is novel, creative, practical and motivating but most of all, it is memorable!
